The Great Northwest Scrapbook
(Washington, Oregon & Northern California)

May 13- 23, 2002

The Great Northwest, May 13 - 23, 2002, is now complete.  Enjoy the picture journey and the WOW experience of tour members.

Begin in Seattle, the "Emerald City" of the Northwest

Pikes Place Market,
downtown Seattle

Breakfast and Sightseeing from "The Needle"

The remains of Mt. Saint Helen after she "blew her top", 8:52 AM, May 18, 1980.  Two decades later, the land is again beginning to bloom, fish swim the rivers and lakes, elk and deer are returning to the surrounding hills.

The Columbia River gorge, the boundary between Washington and Oregon, brings life and wealth to both states

Columbia River as viewed from the Oregon side.

Lumbering and sawmills

The Willamette Valley home to nearly 75% of Oregon's people, and to the largest concentration of Mennonite farmers and businesses in the Northwest.

Flowers and plant production

Nut and fruit orchards and products

Grass seed production and packaging

The rugged and beautiful coastline and hilly and moving sand dunes

We'll never forget the jet boat ride on the Rogue River.  We enjoyed hail, rain, some sunshine and lots of wind at 50 mph.  Hold on to your hats!

The day at Crater Lake was wonderful, above 5,000 feet elevation we encountered a snow blizzard.  What contrasts, what variety.

The northern California was so beautiful, well worth a picture stop.  And the "tall trees", the Coastal Redwood, so big, so inspiring, so graceful.  We praised our Creator.

Finally San Francisco, the city built on hills, and it's distinctive Golden Gate Bridge.  Time to say "Good Bye" to our tour family, a final meal together along the waterfront at Pier 39.
