Scrapbook for Northwest & British Columbia Tour

Northwest & British Columbia Tour, Sept 20 - Oct 5, 2005
is now complete.  Enjoy the picture journey and the WOW
experience of tour members.

Welcome to northwest Washington state.  Welcome to Mt Rainier, Mt Baker and the Cascade Range.

From our starting place in Seattle, we cross by ferry to British Columbia, Canada

Just outside Victoria, BC, enjoy a stroll through the amazing Butchard Gardens

Coffee break in Vancouver

The famous steam clock spouts it's 1 o'clock.  We leave downtown Vancouver and head for the Fraser River Valley.

Our host Hugo and Jean show us around this lush Russian Mennonite farming valley.

An impressive stop at the Gleaners, processing carrots for world hunger needs.

The mechanized raspberry picker helps with the harvest.

Much of the fertile land is being sold for vineyard use

After worshipping at the foot of Mt Baker, it was time to return to Seattle to visit Pike Place Market and the Seattle Space Needle.

The state capital is very ornate.

We learned the story of Mt. St. Helen and the day she blew.

Before we knew it we were visiting the Willamette River Valley, the great farming region of Oregon.

... Hazelnuts, grass seed as well as numerous Mennonite
congregations

The dunes of the Oregon Coast give us a thrill - until we had a flat tire.

The rough coast - line of Oregon in it early morning mist.

Into northern CA we were in awe of the mighty redwoods

...

After Sunday AM worship in Grants Pass, we began our journey to Crater Lake.

...only to encounter snow enroute and even more at the Lake

... the clouds parted just enough to see the beauty of Crater Lake.

The journey nearly ended
as we approached Multnomah Fall along the scenic Columbia River Gorge.

The sun set across the Pacific Ocean as we had our last supper together in Portland, OR.

Go with the many memories of the Great Northwest

TOUR MEMBERS SAID...

"Loved the redwoods and the coastal drive!"
   Dixie, OH

"I was interested in how people make their living outside of the metropolitan areas.  What an outstanding trip this was!"
   Betty, PA

"I always wanted to see the Pacific Ocean and the Redwood forest.  What is always so special to me is that you don't just drive through the area, but you give us time to get out and walk, so we can see, touch, listen, feel and smell the fresh air.  I was so inspired with our walk through the redwood, they are more than big trees to me now.  My God, He made them all."
   Mary, PA

"Even the desolation in the lava fields showed God's power."
   Ken and Naomi, PA

"We'll return home with many memories and the gift of new friendships and experiences."
   Mary and David, IA

"Good mix of places to see and things to do.  We packed a lot into the two weeks."
   Lee and Elaine, MN
