Canadian Rockies, June 12 - July 3, 2003, is now complete. Enjoy the picture journey and the WOW
experience of tour members.
Our travels to the Rockies of Canada saw much of
mid-America as we traveled:
through
the Wisconsin Dells...
the Black Hill and Mt Rushmore...
the Corn Palace,
Mitchell, SD
worship in Freeman, SD at Hutterthal Mennonite Church...
and our visit to a Hutterite community; Frank and the children of the
Hutterites.
Entering the real west:
Smoke jumper training center; with tour member Jim Brunk, former
jumper
Not a traffic jam, but a cattle jam.
The beauty of the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
Before entering Canada, we had a wonderful
visit and meal provided by the Yoder family of the Amish settlement
outside Rexford, Montana.
Finally Canada and the beautiful Rocky Mountains:
Lovely lunch, and a great view of Lake Louise
Peyto Lake is the backdrop for John & Mim and friends...
Snowcoach ride on the Athabasca Glacier...
Up the Banff Lifts to the top of the mountain to view the townsite
below...
Castle-like Banff Springs Hotel
and a delicious lunch, after lunch a hotel tour and group photo.
Leaving Canada through...
Calgary, Alberta
Traveling the "jammers" across the "Going to the Sun
Highway" in Glacier National Park, Montana.
Then through Bismark, ND...
Chicago, IL
We say our Good Byes, but carry our memories of the created world of
mountains and the fellowship of travelers and brothers and sisters met
along the way.
Poem by Kent Kauffman,
Western Parks Guide
Canadian Rockies 2003
Tune: "This Land..."
I took a tour west with Leon and Nancy
Doug did the driving, and Kent the guiding
And all around me was God's creation
God made this land for you and me.
From Banff and Jasper we drove the Parkway
With shining mountains and hanging glaciers
A snowcoach ride took us to the icefields
God made this land for you and me.
TOUR MEMBERS SAID...
"How awesome to look out the window of our coach and behold the
splendor of many mountains - most majestic - a spiritual experience."
Vivian & Glenn (SD)
"God's creation is awesome, singing on the coach was a highlight."
Edith (IN)
"Planning and leadership make the trip worth the cost. The family
feelings created by the Tour Host added so much."
Mary (VA)
"Our guide made the places come alive. Enjoyed the fellowship of
the group and the Christian atmosphere. A top quality tour."
Doris & Dick (MI)
"The "Jammers" at Glacier Park were a delight; each new day
seemed to top the previous day."
Roy & Lois (PA)
"I really enjoyed Yellowstone, awesome and beautiful and so varied.
I loved experiencing the hot spring pools. The Amish meal in Montana was
also a favorite."
Jane (IN)
"I liked the elegant atmosphere at Lake Louise and Banff Springs, but
for "down home cookin", the Amish were great. It is so
comfortable to have all the details arranged so precisely . . . you try to fill
each day with memorable events, and are considerate of each individual.
Perhaps more than anything else, you mold the travelers into a family..."
Dixie (OH)
"Lunch on the bus was fun as was the fine dining at hotels."
Doris (PA)
"This was my first time on a 3 week tour. I was a total stranger
to the group. Very soon I felt accepted as part of the larger family."
Harlan (PA)
